Born to Burt Auckerman and Linda Auckerman, Scott was raised in Orange country, California. His family was very religious and used to make him visit a Baptist Church at least 3 times a week.

He went to Cypress High school in his childhood days. Then, he attended Orange County School of the Arts where he studied acting and musical theater. After graduating high school, he joined Orange Coast college located in Costa Mesa. He paired up with a friend named B.J. Porter and they started writing together and worked together for ‘Lutz Radio’, a radio show. To pursue his career in the entertainment field, he later joined the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts.

Career

His career in the entertainment industry began in 1995 with the show “The Comedy Store” in Los Angeles. He used to perform there with his friend Porter and they were given the stage name “The Fun Bunch”. The fun duo caught the attention of the co-creator of “Mr.Show”, Mr. Bob Odenkrik. They were offered to write and perform on Mr.Show in its 4th season. Their outstanding performances led them to be an Emmy Nominee. 

After Mr.Show got canceled, Auckerman started focusing more on writing scripts for films and scripts. Run Ronnie Run!, Shark Tale, and Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny are some of their notable popular works. Then in 2009, he was the head writer of the MTV Movie Awards and co-wrote a pilot for the show ‘The New Andy Dick Show’ and in the same year, he also started writing and hosting ‘Comedy Death-Ray Radio’, a popular comedy.

2010 was the year when Auckerman and Porter directed: “Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis” that featured interviews and collabs with many famed celebrities such as Steve Carrell, Ben Stiller, Jon Hamm, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Aniston, and so on. This show made a major upgrade in their entertainment careers as it won an Emmy award in 2014 for the episode that featured former President Barack Obama.

In about 2011, the show ‘Comedy Death-Ray Radio’ changed its name to ‘Comedy Bang! Bang! which was a massive hit that uplifted Scott’s career and Porter had already separated ways with him at that time. The show finally ended in December 2012 after running successfully for over ten years.
